Dating... And Steve Jobs

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

This entry is for anyone who ever felt like giving up—in life, in work, and especially…in DATING.  I just finished reading the biography of “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson.  Fascinating, sad, riveting, and insightful, it was all there, tantrums and triumphs.

When you look at how Jobs got up every day and went to work, and the WAY he worked, and how relentlessly he tried to create his dreams, which often took decades to achieve…you know that giving up on anything was never in his vocabulary or on his mind.  He was wildly artistic, insanely brilliant, and incomprehensibly difficult.  But over and over, the sticking point was that he never sacrificed his dreams, his principles, or his vision.  He just kept persevering at what he wanted until he got it right for him.

Which makes me pause and ask singles I work with these questions:
*  Is it time to rethink your expectations in dating?
*  Are you sitting around waiting for someone wonderful to show up in your life without DOING anything about it?
*  Are you willing to settle for Mr. or Miss Goodenough …or are you willing to step out of your comfort zone, learn to be the chooser, and find your soul mate?

Perhaps it’s time to embrace the reality that you can do better, be better, and have better.

I’m pretty sure Steve would back me up there.
